    Dance Away!

The end of the day on Friday was opportunity for parents to see all the fabulous dancing the children in Years 2, 3 and 4 had worked on over the last few weeks of term. It was so lovely to see so many parents watching the children performing a range of dance styles and techniques including cheer leading and other fun loving , inclusive energetic styles! Amazing! Thank you Mrs Devereux!

Thu 02 Mar 2017 Bernadette Fleet
Our Y3/4 team had a thrilling tournament in mixed weather against local teams and came a respectable 5th overall with many close calls. Well done all of you:)
  • Ofsted Inspection 2017

Tue 28 Feb 2017 Bernadette Fleet

On  28th February 2017, we had our long awaited Ofsted inspection, our first in 5 years. The inspector wanted to pass on her thanks to the staff, governors, parents and children for welcoming her to our school. We were pleased with the way the day went and are happy that we reflected the true character and ethos of the school.

We will not receive the official outcome of the inspection for a month or so. The school will see a copy of the letter with the inspector's conclusions and recommendations ahead of publishing it on the public website. This will be circulated to parents.

The staff and governors would like to thank you for all of your help and support. We are proud of the school and children and enjoyed the opportunity to show it off.”

Anna Dixon Green Chair of Governors

Kate Cavalier Vice Chair of Governors

  • Baboon on the Moon

Fri 10 Feb 2017 Bernadette Fleet

Oh! This was so sad! To hear such devastating accounts of the desperation that Baboon faced when left on the moon with the sole purpose of lighting up the moon, all alone and through no fault of his own. How moving and emotive the Year 2 writing was of this experience. The quality of the writing ranging from emotive expressions to extensive descriptions was outstanding to the point of tears from the audience. Well done Year 2! Superb writing! :) I am so proud of you. Mrs Fleet

  • Carols around the tree at Amport House

Sat 17 Dec 2016 Bernadette Fleet
We were so delighted to be invited to join the Chaplains and staff of Amport House yesterday to sing carols around the tree and tell the Christmas story. The walk through the grounds is breathtaking; it is such a beautiful setting, so peaceful and stunning, even on a cloudy day. Following the singing and story telling, the staff of Amport House shared refreshments with the children- we all agreed we've never tasted brownies quite like those! Not only all that but a special guest of honour joined us too, the Mayor of Test Valley. A special morning indeed.
  • Piggles Trust

Sat 17 Dec 2016 Bernadette Fleet
The smell of homemade mince pies emanated enticingly throughout the school this week as Rowan class baked batches of pies to support their cooking skills, their maths skills and, more importantly, to raise funds for the newly established Piggles Trust. The Piggles Trust was set up by a local family following tragedy in their lives on the loss of their little girl just before she was due to start at Amport School this year. Rowan class raised over £60 towards the charity. Well done them and thank you to all who gave so generously.
  • Nativity Play 2016

Thu 08 Dec 2016 Michelle Smith

Born in a Barn by Years R, 1 and 2.

What a fantastic performance!  The children sang confidently and delivered their lines extremely well.  What a lot to remember!

The audiences of all four performances laughed at the jokes and applauded each song enthusiastically and lots of lovely, positive comments were made.  There were lots of very proud parents and grandparents in school.

The costumes were brilliant - thank you to parents for coming up trumps with those!

  • Marwell Zoo Visit Oak class

Tue 22 Nov 2016 Bernadette Fleet
Oak class were so lucky with the weather for their visit to Marwell Zoo. Had it been the day before, it may have been a washout but today, the weather was perfect! Being a quiet time of the year for visitors, the children were delighted to see so many of the animals very close up. This will really help with their work back at school this term. Thank you to the volunteer helpers who joined the children on the day. Look out for photos on the class page. What a fabulous day!
  • HMS Woodwind Spectacular!

Fri 18 Nov 2016 Bernadette Fleet
What a treat the children had today! Miss Schwartz from Hampshire Music Services visited today to entertain and inspire the whole school. The children watched, listened and joined in with open mouths as Miss Schwartz played many well known and some not so well known tunes on the flute, the saxophone and the clarinet. What a talented lady! There is something rather special about an enthusiastic performer that enthuses the audience. The only problem we have now is that so many children want to play a woodwind instrument!! Thank you, Hampshire Music Service.
  • Y5/6 Hockey Tournament

Thu 03 Nov 2016 Bernadette Fleet
What a fabulous end to my day to hear that our Y5/6 team WON the area hockey tournament. Not only that, but in freezing cold weather! From a school where, if you turn up, you're in the team (well, sort of... we have got such small year groups!) to have held our own and beaten teams from much larger schools, I was blown away! WELL DONE Y'ALL! So proud of you :) Mrs Fleet
