SEND

Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) is Mrs Chloe Finlay-Black.

At Amport Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed. We recognise that children learn in different ways and may require varying levels of support throughout their time at school. High-quality teaching and strong relationships are at the heart of our approach, with a clear focus on ordinarily available provision to meet the needs of most learners within the classroom.

We follow the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and use a structured graduated approach (assess, plan, do, review) to identify and support pupils with additional needs. Where a child faces barriers to their learning, appropriate adaptations and targeted strategies are put in place. If needed, a child may be identified as having Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) and we work closely in partnership with families to ensure the right support is in place.

We are proud to provide an inclusive learning environment where individual needs are understood and valued. Most support is delivered by our skilled staff within the classroom through adaptive teaching and carefully planned interventions. Where necessary, we also work closely with a range of external professionals to access specialist advice and provision.

Support is regularly reviewed to ensure it remains effective and responsive to pupils’ needs, enabling them to make progress and develop independence.
